Fishing Boston's North Shore
Come fish the rocky coastline and sandy beaches along Cape Ann's shores with veteran Capt. John T. Pirie. Capt. Pirie has fished these waters for the last 25 years and knows them intimately. A day's fishing trip will take you to a diverse group of fishing environments. Casting into surf breaking against the many rocky islands along this scenic coast allows anglers the thrill of hooking large stripers in their preferred habitat. As the captain positions the boat tight to the rocks, anglers cast their flies within inches of the shore. Stripers often feed close in the surf and foam. Our next stop might be one of the tidal estuaries and rivers found along Boston's North Shore or we may move a short distance offshore to one of the many rock ledges to be found nearby. These ledges allow anglers the opportunities to catch the large bass and bluefish which frequent these areas. In addition to the lack of crowds and angling pressure that Cape Ann offers, one is able to visit these diverse fishing spots without spending valuable time traveling. All of these areas can be reached within a 3 mile radius of our dock. This means no more than ten minutes of traveling since our 27' Boston Whaler is powered by twin Yamaha 250 h.p. engines capable of pushing this boat in excess of 50 M.P.H.! Come join us for a day you won't soon forget. We have a full time mate who works on the boat and is an experienced casting instructor. All equipment and flies will be provided by us. |

Shark Fishing
Flyfishing for sharks! Until you have experienced the thrill of sight casting to 6-10 foot sharks as they surround the boat on a beautiful summer's day it is hard to imagine what this popular new fishery is all about. We take groups of up to five anglers offshore from mid-July to October in pursuit of these beautiful pelagic sharks. While blue sharks are by far the most common and cooperative of the species we target, encounters with wild Mako's as well as Porbeagle and Thresher sharks occur each summer. While we do carry conventional tackle for the largest of these fish, fly fishing clients regularly land fish in the 8-10 foot range. All bookings are made in advance. You will receive a faxed or mailed confirmation of your trip within three days of making the arrangements. Let us introduce you to all that Boston's North Shore has to offer. Call for a free video and trip availability. Rates: 4hrs Stripers, Blues $300.00 8hrs Stripers, Blues $500.00 8hrs Tuna, Sharks $600.00 There is a fuel surcharge when fishing with John. Capt. Dave Rimmer has been fly fishing the productive striped bass and bluefish waters of the North Shore of Massachusetts for the past three decades. Specializing in fly fishing and light tackle spinning, Dave has guided anglers from shore for Orvis and River's Edge for many years and is now a licensed US Coast Guard captain. Primarily, he fishes the lower sections of the magnificent Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA, where he works its endless holes, deep-cut marsh banks, mud flats, mussel and sand bars, and fast-flowing river mouth rips. But he also ventures beyond the river mouth to fish the beaches and salt marshes around the legendary Plum Island. Depending on the time of year, you may find yourself sight fishing to cruising fish in shallow water using an 8-weight and a floating line with a crab fly, deep drifting across structure with a 10-weight and a full sinking line with a herring fly or casting into schools of breaking fish with a 9-weight and a popper. Every day and every trip are different, depending on tides, weather and month. And you never know when that next fish might be a trophy. |
